is 24 x 34 big...?
I love that blue colour, and the skyscraper looks awesome.
The jury was obviously crazy not to choose this.
I'm a lurker here, but just had to come out of my shell and say that that's a lovely painting. I adore the angle. The smoke-mist adds this industrial atmosphere contrasted so well by the only specks of brightly coloured nature things. With the construction like a border.

All that cloudiness around the tower makes me think of 9/11 and the buildings collapsing... was this intentional? Nobody else mentioned it and I don't know the theme of your fund-raiser, but that's what I thought of.
I feel dumb for being unsure of your intention, but looking at it this way gives an interesting level to the painting to me. Kind of eerie... showing tranquility in the humble wooden structure with unsuspecting birds, while such a tragedy that we normally focus on is occurring.
